Is Half a Truth Better Than None?

Taken from Mitt Romney’s resignation speech:

And finally, let’s consider the greatest challenge facing America, and for that matter facing the entire civilized world: the threat of radical, violent jihad.

As you know, in one wing of the world of Islam there’s a conviction that all governments should be destroyed and replaced by a religious caliphate. These jihadists will battle any form of democracy because to them democracy is blasphemous, because it says that citizens, not God, shape the law.

They find the idea of human equality to be equally offensive. They hate everything we believe about freedom just as we hate everything they believe about radical jihad.

To battle this threat, we’ve sent the most courageous and brave soldiers in the world.

But their numbers have been depleted by the Clinton years, when troops were reduced by 500,000, when almost 80 ships were retired from our Navy, and when our human intelligence was slashed by 25 percent.

We were told we were getting a peace dividend. We got the dividend; we didn’t get the peace.

In the face of evil and radical jihad, and given the inevitable military ambitions of China, we must act to rebuild our military might, raise military spending to 4 percent of our GDP, purchase the most modern armament, reshape our fighting forces for the asymmetric demands we now face, and give the veterans the care they deserve.

This is as good as we can get from main stream politics, but it is a half-step. But what is needed to make it a full step?

The jihad is not radical. Jihad is mainstream down-the-middle Islamic doctrine. Jihad is the Sixth Pillar of Islam. It is a Pillar because it is incumbent upon ALL Muslims and it is eternal and universal. The attack on September 11, 2001 was according to their play-book. Not one detail deviated from what Mohammed did. In short, 9/11 was Sunna, not radical or extremist.

Unfortunately, jihad is done by the sword, the pen, the mouth and with money. The jihad of blood and fire is the smallest and least dangerous form of jihad. We are in an ideological war of politics. The military is only good for fighting jihad of the sword.

Romney knows something that George Bush does not. Equality before the law, the basis of democracy, is not Sunna (in the way of Mohammed). The entirety of the Islamic doctrine is that humans are NOT politically equal. Bush’s effort to plant democracy in Iraq can only be a short term success at best.

The only way to engage in an ideological fight is to know the ideology of the opposition and Romney does not know the enemy. What is so terrible is that he is the only one who had (past tense, since he has left the race) a clue, even if it was half a clue.

Meanwhile, Islam marches forward. Hillary’s closest advisor is a Saudi woman who went to the schools in Arabia controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood . (The same ones Osama bin Laden attended.) Obama has three of his close advisors who are openly pro-Palestinian. He feels that if the President of the US just sat down and told Muslims how much we love them and want to do anything they would like, then all of the problems would go away. He is of the “they just need a big hug” school. You wonder, since the man was a Muslim up to the age of 10, if he actually believes that.

Oh, and Obama’s church gave Louis Farrakhan an award as a great American. Farrakhan is openly a whitey-hating, Jew-hating Muslim. Actually, the best thing about Farrakhan is his honesty.

So, in conclusion, a half of a truth is better than none. Now, if we only had a candidate in the election who knows the truth.
