Precise language is necessary for critical thought. The use of the word “terror” instead of jihad is an example of using the wrong word. Jihad is the word that Islamic texts use and it is accurate.
Probably the worst artificial word to be minted is “combating violent extremism”. It sounds like it is straight from the novel, 1984.
We need to use the words that come from Islam to describe Muslims’ actions and thoughts.
